Eldest by Christopher Paolini

Eldest coverEragon and his dragon, Saphira, have just saved the rebel state from destruction by the mighty forces of King Galbatorix, cruel ruler of the Empire. Now Eragon must travel to Ellesmera, land of the elves, for further training in the skills of the Dragon Rider: magic and swordsmanship. I think this was a good book and would recommend it to people who like action and adventure.

Gregor the Overlander by Suzanne Collins

Gregor coverThis book was about an 11-year-old boy named Gregor who lived in New York. Gregor's dad went missing about 2 years ago, and nobody could understand why. One afternoon, while Gregor was taking care of his baby sister Boots, Gregor was sucked into a mysterious hole in his laundry room along with his sister. They discover a land called the Underland. It is a world of bats, roaches, spiders, and rats. Gregor finds out that his father had also disappeared in this way. He must, along with various other friendly creatures, go on a quest to save his dad. This quest was written about by a "prophet" long ago. I chose to read this book because I enjoyed other books by the author. I liked it because of the suspense involved in it. It also had quite a few humorous moments. I would recommend this book to someone who is interested in adventure and humor if you don't have anything better to read.

Dark Portal by Robin Jarvis

Dark Portal coverThe Dark Portal is the first book in The Deptford Mice trilogy. In this book all mice have human-like qualities. Naturally, their mortal enemy are the vicious sewer rats. When a group of small mice get stuck in the sewers and the evil Rat God is after them, things get interesting. I really enjoyed reading this book. It starts out a bit slow but once you get into it, its amazing. Things you didn't expect to happen, happen. I would definitely recommend this book to anybody who wants to read a good book about the lives of creatures instead of humans. It really brings out your imagination.
