2nd Tuesday Book Club Discusses The Bees by Laline Paull

03/16/2016 Categories: Adults Book Club

Escondido, CA - Escondido Public Library invites adult readers to join the 2nd Tuesday Book Club meeting on April 12, 2016 at 6:00 p.m. in the Turrentine Room. This month’s selection is The Bees by Laline Paull. Copies of the book are available for check out and may be reserved in the Library catalog at library.escondido.org.

Told from the perspective of Flora 717, a lowly sanitation bee, The Bees challenges the way we see the world. Flora’s unusual ability to move easily amongst varying levels of the strict caste system empowers her to question the status quo and challenge the Queen’s authority. Thrilling, suspenseful and spectacularly imaginative, The Bees introduces us to a dazzling young heroine.

The 2nd Tuesday Book Club continues on May 10, 2016 with Rebecca by Daphne du Maurier. The selection for June 14, 2016 is Code Talker: The First and Only Memoir by One of the Original Navajo Code Talkers of WWII by Chester Nez. This title was selected for the 2016 Adult Summer Challenge theme of Exercise Your Mind! Library programs are generously sponsored by Friends of the Escondido Public Library and are free to the public. Escondido Public Library is located at 239 South Kalmia Street in downtown Escondido.  For more information about the 2nd Tuesday Book Club visit library.escondido.org or contact Adult Services Librarian Monica Barrette at 760-839-4836.
