2nd Tuesday Book Club Discusses The Martian by Andy Weir

Escondido, CA - Escondido Public Library invites adult readers to join the 2nd Tuesday Book Club meeting on September 13, 2016 at 6:00 p.m. in the Turrentine Room. This month’s selection is The Martian by Andy Weir. Copies of the book are available for check out and may be reserved in the Library catalog at library.escondido.org.

Discuss the edge-of-your-seat thriller that inspired the Oscar nominated film! Novice astronaut and botanist Mark Watney is left behind on Mars after a storm causes his crew to presume him dead. Once Watney manages to make contact with NASA, his fellow astronauts must race against time to save him. Filled with suspense, humor and actual science, the discussion of this best-selling novel is not to be missed.

The 2nd Tuesday Book Club will continue on October 11, 2016 for a group discussion of Waiting for Snow in Havana: Confessions of a Cuban Boy by Carlos Eire. This book was specially selected by KPBS and its partners as the 2016 One Book, One San Diego community read title.
