Escondido, CA - Escondido Public Library invites adult readers to join the 2nd Tuesday Book Club meeting on March 8, 2016 at 6:00 p.m. in the Turrentine Room. This month’s selection is The Red Lily Crown: A Novel of Medici Florence by Elizabeth Loupas.  Copies of the book are available for check out and may be reserved in the Library catalog at library.escondido.org.

To save her starving family, Chiara Nerini sells her father's alchemical equipment to Francesco de' Medici, who takes Chiara as a prisoner in his home. Chiara befriends a fellow alchemist and uses her skills to seek a path safe from Medici tyranny and secrecy. Rich in historical detail, The Red Lily Crown is a stunning depiction of the grandeur and danger of court life in Renaissance Italy.

The 2nd Tuesday Book Club will continue on April 12, 2016 with The Bees by Laline Paull. The selection for May 10, 2016 is Rebecca by Daphne du Maurier.
