Escondido, CA - Escondido Public Library invites adult readers to join the 2nd Tuesday Book Club meeting on Tuesday, June 10, 2014, at 6:00 PM in the Board Room. This month’s selection is a classic, The Catcher in the Rye, by J. D.  Salinger.

Published in 1951, the influential and widely-acclaimed story details two days in the life of 16-year-old Holden Caulfield, after he has been expelled from prep school. Confused and disillusioned, he searches for truth and rails against the "phoniness" of the adult world. He ends up exhausted and emotionally ill, in a psychiatrist's office.  After he recovers from his breakdown, Holden relates his experiences to the reader.

The 2nd Tuesday Book Club will continue on July 8, 2014, with a discussion on the short story collection, Damage Control, by Amber Dermont.  The selection for August 12, 2014, will be The Wandering Falcon by Jamil Ahmad.

This program is sponsored by Friends of Escondido Public Library.  All Library programs are free and open to the public. Escondido Public Library is located at 239 South Kalmia Street in downtown Escondido.
