Escondido, CA – Escondido Public Library invites the community to attend the final Strategic Planning meeting. This will be held in the Turrentine Room, upstairs at Escondido Public Library on Tuesday, April 3, from 10:00 a.m.-11:30 a.m.

By participating, you will have the opportunity to identify current conditions, create a vision of the library for the future, as well as develop the steps needed to achieve these goals.   • Saturday, March 31, 1:00 p.m. – 2:30 p.m.

Summary of Escondido Public Library’s First Strategic Plan Meeting

Escondido, CA – The first meeting of the Strategic Planning Community Advisory Committee (SPCAC) took place at Escondido Public Library on Tuesday, March 13, 2018 at 9:30 a.m. The 28 attendees represented a broad range of civic, educational, government, and business elements of the Escondido community. The next steps in this process include reaching out to focus groups to hear additional thoughts, suggestions, and ideas. Dates and locations for future SPCAC meetings will be announced soon. A Highlight of April Events at Escondido Public Library

Escondido, CA – Escondido Public Library offers special programming for adults during the month of April. All events are free, open to the public, and held in the Library’s Turrentine Room unless otherwise noted.

Alzheimer’s Awareness Series—Wednesdays in April, 1:00-2:00 p.m.
Escondido Public Library partners with the Alzheimer’s Association in this month-long series of instructional programs about various topics relating to identifying and coping with Alzheimer’s Disease. Refreshments will be provided.

2nd Saturday Concert Series Presents Opera Exposed! on Saturday, April 14, 2018 from 3:00 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. This touring opera ensemble features young professionals performing familiar arias and duets from composers such as Puccini, Mozart, and Copland.

Help Envision the Future of Escondido Public Library

Escondido, CA – Take part in the Escondido Public Library Strategic Planning Community Advisory Committee (SPCAC) to help plan the future of your public library. SPCAC participants will identify current community needs, create goals for the future and strategize appropriate steps needed to achieve these goals. This group will be instrumental in envisioning the next five years for Escondido Public Library, and beyond.

 

The first meeting of the SPACAC will take place on Tuesday, March 13, 2018, from 9:30 a.m. – 12:30p.m. in the Turrentine Room on the second floor of Escondido Public Library. A continental breakfast will be available at 9:00 a.m. All members of the community are encouraged to attend and be part of this process. Escondido Public Library Teen Book Club Discusses Don’t Get Caught by Kurt Dinan

Escondido, CA Escondido Public Library’s Burritos & Book Club for teens ages 13-18, meets on Tuesday, March 27, 2018, in the Turrentine Room from 4:00 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. The selected title is Don’t Get Caught by high school English teacher, Kurt Dinan. Copies are available for checkout in the Library’s Teen Area or can be reserved using the Library’s online catalog at library.escondido.org. Students at Escondido High School, San Pasqual High School, and Orange Glen High School can also check out copies at their school library.

Rule #7: Always get payback… Max Cobb has always thought of himself as just your average teen. After he and four of his fellow schoolmates fall for a prank by the school’s legendary Chaos Club, Max uses his knowledge of heist movies to create elaborate pranks in order to draw out and expose the members of the club. In his quest for vengeance, things begin to spiral out of control and just before Max decides that things have gone too far, secrets are revealed that change everything. Let the prank war begin!

After discussing Don’t Get Caught, teens can share other books they have enjoyed, select the next Burritos & Book Club title and take part in a scavenger hunt based on the book. Complimentary burritos will be provided, and all participants receive a free book or audiobook at the end of the program.
