Escondido, CA – Escondido Public Library’s Burritos & Book Club for teens, ages 13 to 18, meets on Saturday, January 16, 2016, in the Turrentine Room from 12:00 p.m. to 1:30 p.m. The Kiss of Deception, by Mary E. Pearson, is the selected title. Copies of The Kiss of Deception are currently available for checkout at the Library’s Information Desk or can be reserved using the Library’s online catalog at library.escondido.org.
The Kiss of Deception is the first book in a fantasy series about Princess Lia, First Daughter of the House of Morrighan. Strong and determined, Lia flees on the morning of her marriage, which is no more than a political alliance to a prince she has never met. As she settles into her new life, she becomes intrigued when two male strangers arrive in the village she now calls home. What Lia does not know, is that one of them is the prince that she jilted and the other is an assassin sent by her own father. As she becomes involved with both gentlemen, Lia also tries to determine what mysteries are hidden within the ancient documents she stole from the Chancellor’s secret collection. These documents take Lia on a quest; a journey where she uncovers deception upon deception and unlocks perilous secrets that could lead to the unraveling of her world.
In addition to discussing The Kiss of Deception, teens can share their opinions and ideas about other books they have enjoyed and propose titles for the next Burritos & Book Club meeting. The selected book will be discussed at the next meeting on Saturday, March 12, 2016. Complimentary burritos will be provided, and all participants receive a free book or audiobook at the end of the program.
