Escondido Public Library & Technology Center celebrates National Library Week, April 13-20, inviting all ages to use and enjoy free programs and services available on-site and online. The library supports lifelong learning through books, media, downloadable E-Books, and online resources as well as in-library computer access, Wi-Fi, and a business center. Escondido Public Library offers free programs for children, teens, and adults ranging from cultural and literary events to vital educational opportunities. The Library continues to be a place for study, research, and improve literacy. Known traditionally for helping students and researchers, Escondido Library is widely recognized as an innovator - promoting entrepreneurship, career development and public content creation. Escondido Public Library serves as a community hub, helping individuals and families connect and discover their world.
Festivities begin with a National Library Week proclamation by Mayor Sam Abed at the City Council Meeting on Wednesday, April 10th. The public is invited to attend the brief ceremony at 4:30 PM in the Council Chambers located at 201 North Broadway. A full week of free programs and events follows:

Library Friends and Foundation supporters invite the public to participate in two special events during National Library Week:
The Friends of the Escondido Public Library will hold a 50% Off Everything Sale Monday, April 15 through Saturday, April 20th in the Friends Book Shop (inside the Library). Book Shop hours are 10:00 AM - 4:00 PM Monday, Wednesday, Friday, & Saturday; and 10:00 AM – 6:00 PM Tuesday & Thursday. A preview sale for Friends of the Library members will be held on Saturday, April 13 from 10 AM – 4 PM.
Favorite fiction & non-fiction, collectors, classics, hardcovers, paperbacks, audio books, CDs, and DVDs will be marked 50% off. Terms are cash only, 25¢ minimum. 100% of the proceeds from the sale directly support the Library’s circulating book and media collections and programs for children, teens, and adults.
The Escondido Library Foundation, in partnershipwith participating Escondido and San Marcos McDonald’s restaurants, will hold a fundraiser on Wednesday, April 17th, to benefit the Library. Visit participating McDonald’s at 340 West Mission Avenue in Escondido and two locations at 701 Center Drive in San Marcos (one restaurant is inside the Walmart store). A portion of the sales between 4:00 - 8:00 PM will go to the Library.
