08/09/2016 Categories: Teens Volunteering

Escondido, CA Escondido Public Library announces the formation of a new Teen Advisory Board, “TAB,” for teens ages 12 – 18 years old. The first meeting will be held on Wednesday, September 7, 2016, in the Turrentine Room from 3:30 p.m. to 5:00 p.m.

TAB provides teens the opportunity to connect with their community and gives them a voice in creating and sustaining services for their age group. As an added benefit, TAB provides teens with opportunities to develop leadership and advisory skills.

All teens are invited to attend Escondido Public Library’s first TAB meeting. Following this first meeting, participants will meet monthly with Teen Librarian Cathy Janovitz to define projects they would like to focus on and determine how to accomplish their goals. TAB members should plan to volunteer around 8 hours per month by assisting with programs, projects, displays, crafts, and writing book reviews. Participants will receive community service hours for attending meetings and project participation. These community service hours will be beneficial when applying for employment or admission to college or university.

This program is generously sponsored by the Friends of the Escondido Public Library.
