Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince

by J.K. Rowling

Harry Potter, the Boy Who Lived, returns to Hogwarts now known as the Chosen One. Rumors about his adventure to the Ministry of Magic and his second duel with Voldemort fly like wildfire around the Wizarding world, and even darker rumors encircle the acts of the terrible Dark Lord. Nevertheless school goes on, and Albus Dumbledore believe that it is time for Harry to be educated in the mysterious past of Lord Voldemort. But the more they learn, the more questions appear, and as the school drama heightens, things get strange. But Harry is always sure of one thing: One cannot live while the other survives.

I thought this was a really good book (like all the Harry Potter books). The ending is so full of action and emotion, and so many questions get answered while at the same time making more. Questions like 'Why does Harry feel Voldemort's emotions?' This is one of the biggest questions in the entire series, but you have to read all the books to understand, and I love that about it.

I would recommend Harry Potter in general to anyone who likes a very well-put-together story, a series, magic, and incredible action. Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince is a really good book if you like anything listed above, plus a good mystery coupled with romance and a character that feels real and is someone you can relate to.

Dealing with Dragons

by Patricia C. Wrede
03/15/2017 Categories: fantasy funny witches & wizards

Cimorene should be happy she's a princess of a prosperous kingdom set to marry a handsome prince. There's just one little problem; it's all incredibly boring. Cimorene is not interested in what is proper behavior for a princess. She wants to have adventure and excitement so on the advice of a unlikely adviser she sets off to get one.

Dealing with Dragons is an amazing book with interesting characters who defy the stereotypes and challenge the normal fairy tale in almost every way. The book is eloquently written full of magic fantasy and adventure.

I read this book a long time ago and just decided to reread it and was surprised by how much I still love it. Dealing with dragons has interesting characters and plot and is probably one of my top 15 favorite book series. I recommend it to anyone who likes fantasy and adventure.

Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets is the second book in the Harry Potter Series. This book reveals some unknown secrets about the Hogwarts school and teachers as well some new information of He Who Must Not Be Named and his plots to destroy Harry Potter.

I enjoyed reading Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone (The first Harry Potter Book), but Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets blows the first book out of the water. This outstanding book is full of mystery and adventure and is the true beginning of Harry Potter and his friends' journey.

I would highly recommend this book to anyone who loves mystery. This is an action packed and mysterious book full of interesting characters and a wonderful story.

This book follows Jason Walker, a boy who finds himself inexplicably transported from Earth to a strange kingdom called Lyrian. He accidentally finds himself on a quest searching for a strange word that would undo the power of the emperor, Maldor. Along the way, he encounters Rachel, who also came from Earth, and is now trapped here. Together, they must find a way to overcome the obstacles in their path, and defeat the emperor, risking their lives in the process.

I liked this book because it was full of adventure, and was rarely, if ever, boring. The book takes you along with it's heros and through it's many twists that leave you guessing and wanting more. The story was fascinating, and very vivid.

I would recommend this book to people who enjoy action filled books or fantasy books. The book is also good for people who enjoy suspense and plot twists, but if cliffhangers and suspense aren't for you, then this isn't the best book for you.

Sweetly

by Jackson Pearce
04/27/2015 Categories: action siblings witches & wizards

SweetlySweetly by Jackson Pearce, is a twist on an old, but popular, fairy tale known as Hansel and Gretel. The main characters Ansel and Gretchen, had their sister taken by a witch in the woods when they were young. Approximately, five years later, their stepmother kicks Ansel and Gretchen out of the house, and into the woods. That is when they stumble upon a bakery and are invited to stay by a beautiful candy maker. But the longer they stay, the more secrets they uncover, and there is no turning back.

I loved this book because of the way the author creatively changes the story. She makes it more interesting and entertaining. Once you start the book, you can not put it down. It is a real page-turner and I am very glad I got to read this story.

I highly recommend this book to readers who love fantasy and action books. It is a good read for all ages and I believe it also teaches good lessons, or morals. One lesson is to never talk to strangers or enter their home, no matter how nice they seem to be.

Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone

by J.K. Rowling
06/05/2013 Categories: boarding school magic movie witches & wizards

Sorcerer's StoneMeet Harry Potter. He's just your average teenage boy staying with some relatives who make it clear that they don't want Harry in their home. That is, until one day when letters flood his house and he meets a giant of a man named Hagrid. Harry finds out that he's a wizard and that his parents were killed by the darkest wizard to ever live: Lord Voldemort. He is swept up in the magical world of Wizarding, finds a home that he's never really had, and meets some friends along the way, including his best friends: Hermione Granger and Ronald "Ron" Weasley. They soon find out that Voldemort is after the Sorcerer's Stone and have to do something before it's too late.

Harry, Hermione, and Ron are just phenominal characters and J.K. Rowling has woven a magical story that's the best of the best. If you like magic, then this is the book for you.

The Raven Boys

by Maggie Stiefvater
04/25/2013 Categories: magic paranormal romance witches & wizards

Raven BoysBlue lives in a house full of psychics, but she is the only one in the house who does not posses these supernatural powers. Ever since she was little girl she has been told that she will kill her true love with a kiss, something that hadn't mattered until now. She becomes involved in the search for the long dead Welsh king Glendower, with a group of raven boys, boys who attend a private school near by, boys whom she swore to never become involved with because of their reputation as snotty rich kids. The story follows their search for Glendower and the growing relationship between Blue and the boys.

I though this book was amazing. Stiefvater creates really dynamic and compelling characters who develop throughout the book. The plot line is really interesting and you find yourself at the edge of your seat, just waiting to find out what happens next.

Yes, I would highly recommend this book to others, but especially to those who enjoy reading a supernatural story with a hint of romance. Overall if you love books with a supernatural plot you would love Stiefvater's The Raven Boys.
