DivergentThis book is about a group of five factions. In the book a girl gets a new chance at life when she gets to choose what she wants to be. She left her family to become a dare devil. She is trying to stay alive at this compound. But can she stay alive with the people that are there?

I loved this book. I actually read it five times! This book can catch your eye just by the cover. I liked it because I like to read dramatic books.

I know for a fact that others would love this book. I had recommend it to my friend and she loved it. When you finish this book you will want to get the next one. If you like DANGER you will like this book.

Memoirs of a Geisha

by Arthur Golden
02/19/2013 Categories: japan movie romance

Memoirs of a GeishaThe book is about a Japanese girl who is torn away from her family at a young age. She goes to live in a house with three older ladies, another girl her age, and a famous Geisha. The hope is that someday she will become a Geisha as well. With many set backs, she has a difficult journey, only helped by the handsome Chairman.

It was a very good book. It opens up a whole new culture in such a unique way and allows you to form deep connections with the main character as she makes her way through a life mostly forced upon her.

I would most definitely recommend this book to others because it is a great story that incorporates Japanese culture and history. Most likely, you will like this book if you are interested in Japanese culture, geisha, or narratives of the struggles of a young girl.

Mockingjay

by Suzanne Collins
01/31/2013 Categories: action adventure dystopia movie romance

Mockingjay coverKatniss is finally at District 13, which she thought didn't exist! Now she has to fight in the war against the Capitol in order for all the people of each district to get their freedom back. But there's a catch! President Snow has Peeta and the closer Katniss gets to her goal the more she hurts Peeta. Katniss has to decide if she really wants to go save all of Panem or risk losing Peeta.

I thought it was exceptionally well written. I really like how all the districts fit into the story line. Also there is a love triangle thing going on, and what teenage girl doesn't enjoy that?

I would definitely recommend this book for anyone to read. I absolutely love it because you can connect to Katniss! Also you don't know what Katniss will do next! There's so many surprises and plot twists this book will leave you at the edge of your seat.

City of Fallen Angels

by Cassandra Clare
01/14/2013 Categories: demonology fantasy paranormal romance vampires

City of Fallen Angels coverThe war against Valentine ended and the Clary won! So everything is supposed to be perfect since Jace and Clary can finally be together...except for the fact that Jace has started to act distant from Clary. There have also been mysterious deaths of Shadowhunters and the death of mundane babies who look suspiciously like they were trying to be turned into half demons.

I thought this book was..eh because it felt like it was kind of a letdown compared to City of Glass, which ended on a perfect note. Clary and Jace's relationship just seem to deteriorate because Jace didn't tell her this one secret which ultimately could have broken them up for good.

I would recommend it only if you have read the other books. But besides from that, it wasn't the best book in the world.

City of Ashes

by Cassandra Clare
01/14/2013 Categories: action demonology romance vampires

City of Ashes coverClary just wishes her life would go back to drawing and hanging out with Simon. Unfortunately, it can't after you find out that you're a Shadowhunter, your mom is in a coma, you might possibly be in love with your brother, and your own dad is basically evil.

I liked this book because it still had those hilarious characters. Plus, the combination of the action and romance is perfect. If you read City of Bones don't stop there! This book is just as good as the first. There are some great moments in this book where you just stop reading and go "Whoa!"

City of Bones

by Cassandra Clare
01/14/2013 Categories: funny paranormal romance vampires

City of Bones coverClary Fray is just a normal teenage girl who just happens to witness a killing in a club. Her best friend Simon is convinced she didn't see anything until her mom goes missing and she meets the gorgeous and mysterious Jace Wayland. Together, they try to uncover the truth about what happened to her mom.

I loved this book because I just love the funny and crazy characters and their witty comments. It's cool because each character is entirely different and has their own unique personality.

I would recommend this book to anyone who has read any type of fantasy book because its so much more than just vampires and werewolves.

City of Glass

by Cassandra Clare
01/14/2013 Categories: funny paranormal romance vampires

City of Glass coverThis book is the third installment in the Mortal Instruments series. Clary Fray has found a way to awaken her mom by going to Idris which is the homeland of all Shadowhunters, to retrieve a spell book. Unfortunately, Jace plans to try and keep Clary away from Idris and to put as much distance between them as possible. While this is going on Valentine is planning on seizing Idris with a demon army.

This was the best book out of the series. Everything from the previous books is explained in this one, and there are so major twists.

I would recommend it obviously if you have read the previous books. This book is different from the typical teen fantasy romance because there is so much else going on and doesn't just focus on the two lovers.

Sense and Sensibility

by Jane Austen
12/27/2012 Categories: classic family drama romance siblings

Sense and Sensibility is mainly about two girls, Marianne and Elinor Dashwood, who have moved into a small cottage after the recent death of their father. Elinor and Edward Ferrars are thought to be in love with each other, but Elinor is unaware of the secret Edward has. Marianne meets John Willoughby while nearly injuring herself, but is all of it just a game?

I thought it was pretty good because it explained how most women in that time period basically had nothing to look forward to except to get married.

I would definitely recommend this book if you have read other Jane Austen books. If you like Pride and Prejudice then try this one!

The Summer I Turned Pretty

by Jenny Han
12/27/2012 Categories: dating drama realistic fiction romance

Summer I turned pretty coverThe Summer I Turned Pretty is a story of chances and heartbreak. Isabel (Belly) has spent every summer of her life in Cousins Beach with her family and family friends. The two main boys in her life are Conrad and Jeremiah. She loves both of them dearly but is and has been in love with Conrad forever. But this summer she starts to get the wandering eye from Conrad and Jeremiah.

I did like this book because it wasn't like she met this gorgeous guy by "accident“, it was someone she had known her whole life. I also loved the differences between the two brothers. Whereas Conrad is complicated and shy, and Jeremiah is outgoing and hilarious.

I would definitely recommend this book just because of how different it is from the typical romance books.

We'll Always Have Summer

by Jenny Han
12/27/2012 Categories: dating drama funny realistic fiction romance

We'll Always Have Summer coverBelly is finally in a loving, committed relationship with Jeremiah in college. So he decides to pop the question after 2 years of dating and they decide to head down to Cousins Beach to plan the wedding. However, they did not expect to run into Conrad who is staying at the beach house. Then, Conrad tells Belly he made a mistake ending the relationship with her and still has feelings for her. She finally has to confront her feelings for both of them and choose.

I totally loved this book!!! There are a bunch of laughs, twists, heartbreak I never saw coming even for a second. I think this is one of the few books, that when it ended I felt happy about it like it was the perfect ending.

YES, read it! If you don't you will regret it. It has some really good lines in there that are unforgettable. It kind of reminds me of a Sarah Dessen book because the outcome is totally unpredictable.

The Lucky One

by Nicholas Sparks
12/18/2012 Categories: dating drama realistic fiction romance war

Lucky One coverFormer U.S Marine, Logan Thibault, became lucky when he found a photograph of a young woman while serving in Iraq. This photograph has been claimed to have saved his life through many battles in which his friends did not survive. This mysterious woman has been in his thoughts daily, and he wants to find her so that he can somehow repay her.

I really enjoyed this book! I read it because I had seen the previews of the movie, and I was dying to see the movie but I liked the book way better than the movie.

I would recommend this book to people who enjoy romance. It will make you wonder why something is happening in some chapters and sometimes you even want to scream at characters for being so cruel and uncaring.

Her boyfriend Jason doesn't listen to her about her unhappiness. He is away at camp, and she sends him an email telling him she loves him. Jason rejects her love and tells her they need a break. Wes and Macy begin to play a game called Truth where they revel their secrets to each other. They connect more and later throughout the story they become a couple after some obstacles.

The Truth About Forever is an interesting book. It makes you realize that not letting your feeling out damages you emotionally and physically. I love how Dessen tells Macy's story heartfully.

by Meg Cabot

All American girl coverThis book is about an average teenage girl, Sam, and a not-so-average teenage boy, the President's son. All-American Girl is about how Sam goes from being a normal teenager, to being a hero.

This book is interesting because most of the drama that Sam goes through is relatable to teenage girls. I like how her love life is different and interesting since it includes the President's son.
