The Downtown Escondido Makeover Continues: Grand Avenue
Construction along Grand Avenue: Street Paving

Construction Updates

Early next week, crews will begin adding the final decorative touches along Grand Avenue! Starting in between Juniper and Kalmia, crews will be sandblasting, a process of using a high-velocity stream of abrasive material to create designs and words in the concrete around tree wells and on the Broadway roundabout. The sandblasting process will be loud and produce dust; however, the crews will place a protective shield around the sandblasting site to minimize dust from traveling outside of the site. Business access will be maintained during the process and crews will attempt to work near businesses when they are closed. Crews will work as quickly as possible to complete this process, and we ask for your patience as we complete this step of the project!

Additionally, construction crews will continue to install decorative fencing between Kalmia and Broadway and are expected to finish by the end of next week. Landscaping crews will finish adding greenery in the same block over the course of the next week. Between Broadway and Maple, landscaping crews have started adding new greenery. Crews will continue to work on sidewalks, the road, and the new roundabout at the intersection of Grand Avenue and Broadway. Construction is progressing smoothly, and we are on track for all streets to be open by the end of April.

Traffic Reminders: Through traffic is closed between Kalmia and Maple and at the intersection of Grand Avenue and Broadway. Alternative routes are available at Valley Parkway and 2nd Avenue. Please be aware of all traffic control signs and if walking, remain on the designated walkways for your safety.

Painting the town!

Escondido's Arts, Culture & Creativity Month has officially begun! All through April, our community will host a variety of events and activities to celebrate Escondido's vibrant culture and inspire creativity in everyone!

Looking for a fun event for the little ones? On Saturday, April 5, CoLabCrafts will host a free Clay Creations Class with Ms. Kara for kids ages 9-13 years old. This unique, hands-on class will introduce kids to the traditional art of Kumeyaay pottery and spark their interest in art and culture.

On Sunday, April 6, CoLabCrafts will also offer a free Acrylic Painting on Canvas class, inspired by the Escondido Portal on Grand Avenue. Whether you're a beginner or an expert, this class will help unlock your creative potential as you capture the charm of our local landmark!

Can't make it this weekend? No worries!
