Escondido Creek Trail Temporary Closures and Access Updates
Upcoming work
Construction continues along the Creek Trail, with active work zones throughout the project area. Here's what you can continue to expect over the next two weeks:
- Grading between Ash and Harding Streets and Harding and Rose Streets.
- Storm drain work at Washington Park.
- Placing pull boxes between Date and Ash Streets and Ash and Harding Streets.
- Steel fence installation between Ash and Cedar Streets.
- Cable railing installation between Harding and Rose Streets and Rose Street and Midway Drive.
- Irrigation pressure testing between Harding Street and Washington Park.
- Connection of irrigation valves between Harding Street and Washington Park.
- Irrigation line installation between Washington Park and Rose Street.
- Concrete improvements at Elm, Date, Beech and Cedar Streets.
Trail users should anticipate the following impacts:
- Sections of the trail will be fully closed for cable railing installation between Harding and Rose Streets.
- Trail access points will be temporarily closed on the south side of Date, Beech, and Cedar Streets.
Adjacent projects: Emergency Truck Sewer Replacement:
- Emergency repairs continue and are near the Creek Trail project limits.
- In early September, crews will begin work on Fig Street, causing a full closure of the Fig Street bridge for approximately one month.

Recently completed
Crews continue to make steady progress along the Escondido Creek Trail, completing several key improvements over the past few weeks:
- Cable railing between Date and Ash Streets.
- Electrical conduit on the north side between Date and Ash Streets.
- Class II base on the north side between Date and Ash Streets.

About the project
Construction for the Escondido Creek trail began in February 2025. Work will take place from Citracado Parkway to North Midway Drive, with construction generally moving from west to east. The project is expected to be completed in late 2025, pending any unforeseen delays. Construction hours are Monday through Friday from 7 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., with the exception of city-recognized holidays.
