Escondido Creek Trail Temporary Closures and Access Updates
Upcoming work
Construction continues along the Creek Trail, with active work zones throughout the project area. Here’s what you can continue to expect through next week:
- Soil amendment (to help new plants grow) between Hickory and Fig Streets.
- Pressure testing irrigation lines between Rose Street and Midway Drive.
- Utility and pull box adjustments between Rose Street and Midway Drive.
- Installation of irrigation between Rose Street and Midway Drive.
- Concrete pavers and other improvements at Date Street on both sides of the creek.
- “Resilience” mural painting between Rose and Harding Streets.
- A public dedication ceremony for the “Resilience” mural on Monday, Oct. 20, at 5:30 p.m. on the creek trail behind the Mission Federal building located at 1500 E Valley Parkway.
Trail users should anticipate the following impacts:
- There will be a long-term closure at Date St. on both sides of the creek during improvement work.
- There will be full 24-hour closures on the south side between Rose and Harding Streets during the mural painting. Trail users will detour to Valley Parkway.
Please pay attention to road signs in the area for the most up-to-date information on Creek Trail access.
Adjacent projects: Emergency Truck Sewer Replacement:
- Emergency repairs continue and will have very minimal impacts near the Creek Trail project limits.

Recently completed
Crews continue to make steady progress along the Escondido Creek Trail, completing several key improvements over the past few weeks:
- Seal coating on the west side of the project between Citracado Parkway and Quince St. is now complete.

About the project
Construction for the Escondido Creek trail began in February 2025. Work will take place from Citracado Parkway to North Midway Drive, with construction generally moving from west to east. The project is expected to be completed in late 2025, pending any unforeseen delays. Construction hours are Monday through Friday from 7 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., with the exception of city-recognized holidays.
