Bilingual Book Discussion Group Meets at Escondido Public Library

05/04/2015 Categories: Adults Book Club

Escondido, CA - Rincón Literario (The Literary Corner), Escondido Public Library’s Bilingual Book Discussion Group, will meet on Saturday, May 30, 2015, from 3:30 – 4:45 p.m. in the Library’s Turrentine Room. Una y otra vez/Life After Life by Kate Atkinson, is the selected book for May. Participants discuss books bilingually, in English and Spanish. Multiple copies of the selected title are available and can be reserved in the Escondido Public Library catalog.

Una y otra vez/Life After Life is the captivating story of Ursula Todd, a woman who dies repeatedly in a variety of ways.  Ursula Todd first dies when she is just being born to Hugh and Sylvie Todd at their home in Fox Corner, England, on a bitterly cold, snowy night in February 1910.  However, Ursula’s death is not an ending but the beginning of a series of reincarnations and the chance to experience several different lives and destinies.

Cecy Rayphole, Rincón Literario facilitator, commented, “Book discussions bring people together to share their views, but also to experience different perspectives and cultures, and to discover what they have in common. Rincón Literario is an excellent forum for this exchange and also provides a great opportunity to practice or improve reading or speaking in either English or Spanish in a comfortable setting.” Rincón Literario will meet next month, on Saturday, June 27, 2015, to discuss the classic, Cumbres borrascosas/Wuthering Heights, by Emily Bronte.

Rincón Literario is made possible by generous support from Friends of the Escondido Public Library. This program is free and open to the public. To access the book in the Library catalog, and for more information about future Rincón Literario selections and other Library programs, visit library.escondido.org or contact Cecy Rayphole, Senior Library Associate, at 760-839-4271 or at crayphole@escondido.org.
