Bilingual Book Discussion Group Meets at Escondido Public Library

06/03/2015 Categories: Adults Book Club

Escondido, CA - Rincón Literario (The Literary Corner), Escondido Public Library’s Bilingual Book Discussion Group, will meet on Saturday, June 27, 2015, from 3:30 – 4:45 p.m. in the Turrentine Room. The classic, Cumbres borrascosas/Wuthering Heights by Emily Brontë, is the selected title for June. Multiple copies of the book are available for check-out or can be reserved in the Library catalog at library.escondido.org.

Cumbres borrascosas/Wuthering Heights follows the life of the mysterious Heathcliff from childhood to his death in his late thirties. Heathcliff rises in stature within his adopted family and then is suddenly reduced to the status of a servant. He runs away when the young woman he loves decides to marry another. Heathcliff returns later, rich and educated, and sets about gaining revenge on the two families he believes ruined his life.

Cecy Rayphole, Rincón Literario’s facilitator, commented, “Book discussions bring people together to share their views, experience different perspectives and cultures, and to discover what they have in common. Rincón Literario is an excellent forum for this exchange and also provides a great opportunity to practice or improve reading or speaking in either English or Spanish in a comfortable, supportive setting.”

Rincón Literario will meet next month, on Saturday, July 25, 2015, to discuss the delightful Me llamo Bud, No Buddy/Bud, Not Buddy by Christopher Paul Curtis.

Rincón Literario is made possible by generous support from Friends of the Escondido Public Library. This program is free and open to the public. To access the book in the Library catalog, and for more information about future Rincón Literario selections and other Library programs, visit library.escondido.org or contact Cecy Rayphole, Senior Library Associate, at 760-839-4271 or at crayphole@escondido.org.
