Escondido, CA - Rincón Literario (The Literary Corner), Escondido Public Library’s Bilingual Book Discussion Group, will meet on Saturday, April 23, 2016, from 3:30 – 4:45 p.m. in the Turrentine Room. Senior Library Associate Cecy Rayphole will lead the discussion of this month’s classic selection, El Conde de Montecristo/The Count of Monte Cristo by Alexandre Dumas in both English and Spanish. Copies of the book are available for check out and may be reserved in the Library catalog at library.escondido.org.
Young merchant sailor Edmond Dantès is successful, well-liked, and engaged to be married when he is suddenly accused of treason and sentenced to life in prison. While in prison, Dantès befriends Abbé Faria, an old priest who teaches Dantès the arts of language, culture, and science, and tells Dantès about a hidden treasure. When Faria passes away, Dantès makes plans to escape from jail, find the treasure, and seek revenge on those responsible for his imprisonment.
Rincón Literario will meet next month, on Saturday May 21, 2016 to discuss Nunca me abandones/Never Let Me Go by Kazuo Ishiguro.
