Escondido, CA – Escondido Public Library introduces Board Game Afternoon, a new weekly program especially for teens and tweens beginning January 16, 2015. Board Game Afternoon takes place in the Library’s Turrentine Room every Friday from 4:00 to 5:30 p.m., where teens can engage in friendly competition playing a variety of new and classic board games.
A collection of games is provided for players, such as Apples to Apples, Monopoly, Operation, Cranium, and Scrabble. This is the perfect opportunity for teens to start the weekend and unwind after school. It’s also a great way for high school teens to sharpen their skills to compete in the Library’s annual Scrabble-Thon Tournament which will be held on March 14, 2015. Cathy Janovitz, Teen Librarian, commented, “Board Game Afternoon is a way for high school teens interested in competing in Scrabble-Thon to practice, sharpen their skills and form teams to compete for the coveted trophy for their school.”
Library programs, events, and services are free and open to the public. This program is sponsored by the Friends of the Escondido Public Library. The Escondido Public Library is located at 239 South Kalmia Street in Escondido.
