Judy Fitzgerald is a daughter of immigrant parents who moved to Arizona where Judy was born, and eventually moved to California and made their way to San Diego in 1982. Judy has been an Escondido resident since 1987 after purchasing her first home, and together with her husband Tom whom she married in 1994, raised three daughters that attended Escondido public schools. She served as a law enforcement officer for 12 years with the Oceanside and Carlsbad police departments as a patrol officer and detective. She eventually moved on to owning and operating a CrossFit gym with her husband Tom, a retired San Diego Sheriff Sergeant.
Judy cares deeply about her community and doing her part in helping Escondido thrive. She has served and continues to serve on many boards including the Escondido Chamber of Commerce where she developed the Young Professionals networking group, Business Women networking group, and the Leadership Luncheons for business entrepreneurs and business owners, and is a member of the Escondido Sunrise Rotary Club as Chair of the Human Trafficking Committee. As a community leader she continues to support numerous local charitable organizations and nonprofits that enhance the quality of life for Escondido residents. In 2023, she was appointed by City Council to serve on the Planning Commission.
Judy believes in the Safety First model and is committed to supporting safety services, including the Escondido Police Department and Fire Department, that will make way to attract the right businesses that will create prosperous jobs and careers for existing residents and those that want to call Escondido their future home.
