Escondido, CA – September is Library Card Sign-Up Month! Escondido Public Library encourages community members of all ages, especially students, to stop by the Library and sign-up for a library card. Library cards are always free and easy to get. Simply fill out an application in-person at the Library’s Customer Service Desk or complete an online application at escon.iii.com/selfreg.

A library card is the most important tool everyone can have that leads to a lifetime of success. Use your card to download an eBook or eAudiobook; check out the latest bestselling novel or a DVD featuring your favorite actor; and sign-up to use a public computer to access the Internet or do homework. There are a host of online electronic resources on the Escondido Public Library website that can be accessed from a computer or in the Library with a Library card. Learn a new language, get homework help 24/7, or access online encyclopedias and magazines using these online resources.

During September, have some fun with your Library card when you visit Escondido Public Library. Take a selfie and tell how you use your Library card. Selfies will be shared on social media using #GetCarded to spread the word about all the endless possibilities that a Library card provides.

The Escondido Public Library will also celebrate Banned Books Week September 21-27, 2014 to raise awareness of intellectual freedom and the right as citizens to read. Visit library.escondido.org/banned for more information and a full list of Banned Books.

All Library programs and services are free to the public. Escondido Public Library is located at 239 South Kalmia Street in downtown Escondido. For more information about Library programs and services visit library.escondido.org or contact Deputy City Librarian, Cynthia Smith at 760-839-4329.
