Carlos Eire delivers a poignant account of his privileged childhood in pre-revolutionary 1950’s Cuba in this National Book Award winning memoir. In 1962, Carlos Eire was among the 14,000 children airlifted out of Havana—exiled from his family, country, and his own childhood by Fidel Castro’s revolution. This is a stunning and unforgettable recollection of a youthful Latin American experience interrupted by the harsh reality of revolution.
Library programs are generously sponsored by the Friends of the Escondido Public Library and are free to the public.
