Escondido, CA - Escondido Public Library’s 2nd Tuesday Book Club will discuss this year’s KPBS One Book, One San Diego community reading selection, Waiting for Snow in Havana: Confessions of a Cuban Boy by Carlos Eire. The 2nd Tuesday Book Club will meet on October 11, 2016 at 6:00 p.m. in the Turrentine Room. Copies of the book are available for check-out in print, eBook, and other formats, and can be reserved at library.escondido.org. For more information on One Book, One San Diego and a list of special community events related to Waiting for Snow in Havana, and One Book, One San Diego’s 10 Year Anniversary celebrations, visit www.kpbs.org/one-book.

Carlos Eire delivers a poignant account of his privileged childhood in pre-revolutionary 1950’s Cuba in this National Book Award winning memoir. In 1962, Carlos Eire was among the 14,000 children airlifted out of Havana—exiled from his family, country, and his own childhood by Fidel Castro’s revolution. This is a stunning and unforgettable recollection of a youthful Latin American experience interrupted by the harsh reality of revolution.

Library programs are generously sponsored by the Friends of the Escondido Public Library and are free to the public. Escondido Public Library is located at 239 South Kalmia Street in downtown Escondido.  For more information about the 2nd Tuesday Book Club visit library.escondido.org or contact Adult Services Senior Librarian Viktor Sjöberg at 760-839-4814.
