Escondido, CA - Escondido Public Library’s 2nd Saturday Concert Series presents the Danny Green Trio on Saturday, March 14, 2015, at 3:00 p.m. in the Library’s Turrentine Room. Back by popular demand, the trio returns to perform classical and Latin-influenced jazz selections with group leader, Danny Green on piano, Justin Grinnell on bass, and Julien Cantelm on drums.
Praised as “One of the important up and comers on the jazz scene today,” by All That Jazz, Danny Green Trio’s first album, “With You in Mind,” won “Best Jazz Album” at the 2009 San Diego Music Awards. The group has performed at many important venues and festivals including KSDS Jazz 88.3’s Jazz Live, the Athenaeum Music and Arts Library, and CSU Summer Arts Monterey.
The 2nd Saturday Concert Series runs through May 2015 and presents an array of musical styles. Upcoming concerts feature chamber music performances by The Kensington Trio in April, and Besos de Coco in May.
This year’s summer reading theme, “Read to the Rhythm,” will celebrate reading and music. Concert lovers will be pleased to know that organizer, Paul Crouthamel, has announced the special addition of two concerts, in July and August, extending the series to complement the adult summer reading club program.
The 2nd Saturday Concert Series is free, open to the public, and generously sponsored by Friends of the Escondido Public Library. Escondido Public Library is located at 239 South Kalmia Street, Escondido, CA 92025.
