Escondido, CA – Escondido Public Library will offer Resume Writing: Tips & Tricks, a course to assist job seekers beginning February 17, 2015. This 4-week course meets Tuesdays and Thursdays from 9:30 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. and will run through March 12, 2015. The class meets at the Escondido Technology Center, located at 2245 East Valley Parkway, Escondido, CA 92027.
Resume Writing: Tips & Tricks will provide a basic overview of the key elements required to prepare an effective resume. Participants will learn how to create a new resume or improve an existing one. The course covers how to format a resume, provides constructive feedback, and teaches participants about Library print and online resources that assist in resume preparation. Later in the course, participants will learn how to tailor a basic resume to fit specific job requirements.
The Library plans to offer several future career readiness classes later this spring on interviewing skills and how to prepare job seekers for employment and career success.
Sheila Rodriguez, Career Readiness Specialist in the Library’s Literacy Services Division, commented, “This class helps Library patrons and the general public become better prepared as they seek new career opportunities. Participants will receive feedback on their resume, which is always a good idea before applying for a job.”
Registration is required to enroll in Resume Writing: Tips & Tricks and space may be limited. Participants must have basic computer skills and will need to bring a USB flash drive for uploading and storing documents. Register by calling Sheila Rodriguez in the Literacy Services Division at (760) 839-5440 by February 10, 2015.
