Escondido, CA – Escondido Public Library invites children, ages 7-12, to attend Children Around the World, a new series of five programs designed to introduce children to other cultures and provide perspectives on our world and its interconnections. A different country will be presented each month. The meetings will be held in the Library’s Turrentine Room from 3:00 – 4:00 PM. The Children Around the World series includes the following countries and dates:
- China – Friday, January 31, 2014
- Ethiopia – Thursday, February 13, 2014
- Ireland – Thursday, March 13, 2014
- India – Thursday, April 10, 2014
- Afghanistan – Thursday, May 15, 2014
Each program explores a specific culture and introduces aspects of its society through stories, books, history, crafts, foods, and language.
Cindi Bouvier, Youth Services Senior Librarian, will lead the sessions. She said, “Cultural programs reinforce the Library’s mission to enrich and educate readers by promoting awareness, satisfying curiosity, and encouraging reading through shared experiences and knowledge.”
Library programs, events, and services are free and open to the public. Registration is not required; however, early arrival is recommended.
