Families for Literacy Winter Program: Playing It Strong!

01/03/2013 Categories: Adult Literacy Families

Literacy and Lifelong Learning’s FFL program will be hosting their winter program, Playing It Strong! on Thursdays 3:00PM-5:00PM from January 24, 2013 to March 14, 2013. Playing It Strong! has been designed to help parents and their 3rd to 6th grade children understand and appreciate their uniqueness. Identifying the child’s natural talents and strengths as well as their academic development is the main focus of the program.

Parents and their children will be attending a total of eight weekly workshops. In these workshops, parents will receive training in strength-building concepts and strategies to provide leadership to their children. The program also consists of fun and interactive activities. Technology, such as Chrome book apps, will be used to make the academic part of the program more appealing and interesting for children. The rest of the activities will be fun and explorative for both parents and their children as they will establish a model of communication that supports Lifelong Learning and Family Literacy.

This program was funded in part by the Wisdom Foundation. It is free and open to the public. It will be held in the Turrentine Room, located on the second floor of Escondido Public Library, and presented by Literacy Staff. Please contact the Literacy and Lifelong Learning Department at (760) 839-5440 to RSVP, or for any further questions.

The Escondido Public Library is located at 239 South Kalmia Street in downtown Escondido. For more information on this and other Literacy and Lifelong Learning programs or events, go to http://library.escondido.org or contact (760) 839-5440.
