Who are the Friends of Literacy Services?

Friends of Literacy are community volunteers committed to ensuring that all those who have a desire to learn are given the opportunity. Volunteers are from diverse in their professional experiences and backgrounds, and provide support through planning, advocacy and funding to Escondido Public Library Literacy Services.


What do the Friends do?

  • Foster closer relations between the Escondido Public Library and the citizens of Escondido.
  • Promote knowledge of the functions, resources, services and the needs of the library in regards to literacy services.
  • Lead in the development of programs for improvement of the literacy resources of all ages and levels when the need is indicated.
  • Encourage gifts of books, manuscripts, or other resources to the literacy collection.
  • Aid in the provision of funds for special literacy projects when necessary.
