Escondido, CA – Escondido Public Library will host Kids! the San Diego Poetry Annual Summer Workshop for children ages 7-12 years on Friday, August 11 from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. Terry Spohn, poet and Regional Editor of the San Diego Poetry Annual, will teach children how to write poetry. Their work will be published in the 2017 Kids! San Diego Poetry Annual. Writing materials will be provided. Registration is required at: www.ksdpa.com/workshops and is limited to 20 participants.
This workshop is sponsored by the San Diego Entertainment and Arts Guild (SDEAG) and commemorates its inaugural year by conducting over a dozen one-day workshops county-wide this summer. The Kids! San Diego Poetry Annual website states, “We believe that learning and writing poetry early in life leads to a greater ability of expression, self-confidence and empathy for others and the world around us, and promotes an active, life-long appreciation for The Arts. Plus – it can be a lot of fun!” Dan Wood, the Library’s Youth Services Senior Librarian added, “This is a fantastic opportunity to teach children in Escondido and the local area about poetry. It is exciting to be part of a county-wide effort to promote the arts and encourage children to explore and experience poetry.”
