Escondido, CA Escondido Public Library joins libraries nationwide in celebrating National Library Week, April 13 – 19, 2014. National Library Week highlights the value of libraries and their contribution to the world of learning.

On Wednesday, April 9, 2014, Escondido Mayor Sam Abed will issue a National Library Week Proclamation at the City Council Meeting. The public is invited to attend the brief ceremony at 4:30 PM in Council Chambers located at 201 North Broadway in downtown Escondido.

Escondido Public Library is at the heart of the community, enriching quality of life as a place where people can gain knowledge and enjoy cultural experiences. Everyone is encouraged to visit the Library, either on-site or online, and discover services and programs for all ages. Library patrons can come in and checkout a book, or visit the Library website to download an eBook. The Library is a place to study, explore the City’s archive, improve literacy skills, access Wi-Fi, or use a computer. Free programs such as book clubs, career readiness workshops, concerts, author visits, and a monthly calendar of events for children and teens are continually offered.

Escondido Public Library is also pleased to announce its participation in the 2014 community reading project, “One Book, One San Diego,” sponsored by KPBS. The selected title for this year’s program will be announced in mid-May and program details will follow.

“Service to Escondido’s community and access to information have always been our focus.” said Cynthia Smith, Deputy City Librarian. “Our Library is continually evolving to keep up with how people access information and use technology. In a sometimes overwhelming, information-rich age, Escondido’s librarians offer patrons expert help to reach accurate information quickly. Librarians are a valuable resource and National Library Week highlights their service.”
