Carlos Eire delivers a poignant account of his privileged childhood in pre-revolutionary 1950’s Cuba in this National Book Award winning memoir. In 1962, Carlos Eire was among the 14,000 children airlifted out of Havana—exiled from his family, country, and his own childhood by Fidel Castro’s revolution. This is a stunning and unforgettable recollection of a youthful Latin American experience interrupted by the harsh reality of revolution.
Cecy Rayphole facilitates Rincón Literario’s book discussion in both English and Spanish, and welcomes new and returning members. Rincón Literario will continue on Saturday, November 19, 2016, discussing El libro secreto de Frida Kahlo/The Secret Book of Frida Kahlo by F.G. Haghenbeck.
