Escondido, CA – Veganism and vegan cooking will be explained and demonstrated at Escondido Public Library on Saturday, November 16, 2013, at 2:00 PM in the Turrentine Room by Jia Xu, Ph.D., and chefs Sonia Loera and Lian Li of vegansandiego.com. This is a wonderful opportunity to learn more about this healthy lifestyle and its possible health benefits.
What do President Clinton and Atlanta tight end Tony Gonzales have in common? They are both vegans. The vegan lifestyle of not eating animal products has entered the mainstream of American life. Jia Xu, Ph.D., will explain what a vegan diet is and its possible health benefits for lowering the risk of heart attack, diabetes, arthritis, and more. She will also discuss veganism as a sustainable, environmentally friendly alternative to a meat-based diet.
Sonia Loera and Lian Li, chefs from vegansandiego.com, will prepare delicious vegan dishes to sample using a wide variety of plant-based ingredients. They will demonstrate that meatless does not mean tasteless. A selection of the library’s vegan cookbooks will be available for checkout.
