Ambulance Transport Fees

Escondido Fire Department is committed to providing fast, reliable, and professional emergency medical services to our community. When you call 911 and require ambulance transportation, it is more than just a ride to the hospital — you’re receiving critical medical care from highly trained personnel using specialized equipment, often during life-threatening situations.

 Ambulance transportation charges help cover the significant costs associated with delivering this level of care, including:

1. Emergency medical technicians (EMTs) and paramedics who are certified and trained to provide lifesaving interventions

2. Ongoing maintenance and replacement of medical equipment and ambulances

3. Medical supplies used during transport

4. Fuel, insurance, and vehicle maintenance

5. Compliance with local, state, and federal healthcare regulations

While we strive to keep costs as affordable as possible, billing for ambulance services ensures we can maintain readiness, update our equipment, and retain qualified medical personnel to serve you when it matters most.

Your safety is our top priority, and this funding helps ensure we can continue delivering the high standard of care our community deserves.  The fees (effective 1/1/25) are as follows:

• Base Rate $4,267
• Treatment Only – No Transport $200
• Mileage $40 / mile
• Oxygen Use $100
