English as a Second Language (ESL)

Classes to learn English or improve your English skills. Classes start with the fundamentals, including listening, speaking, reading, and writing. The courses integrate grammar and vocabulary skills with relevant basic employment, health, housing, banking, and nutrition knowledge. Knowledge of American culture and idiomatic English are introduced.

  • Be 18 years or older
  • Must take an assessment 
  • Be able to attend class twice a week
  • Each class is 1 ½ a day
  • Classes are held in the mornings

Adult Literacy

One-on-one, free, personalized tutoring for English-speaking adults who want to improve their reading, writing, and other skills.   Instruction is based on each individual learner’s goals and level; it moves at their pace. Tutoring is flexible with days and times, including evenings and Saturdays, in conjunction with library hours. 

Families For Literacy (FFL)

Learners with children ages 0 to 18 may participate in programs, workshops, and hands-on activities that foster a love of reading and promote the home as a literacy-rich environment.
