Arts, Culture & Creativity Month

Escondido Celebrates the Arts

In April 2025, Escondido celebrated Arts, Culture & Creativity Month for the first time. This event is a statewide initiative recognizing the vital role that the arts play in building a thriving community. Locally, this effort is led by the City of Escondido Public Art Commission, which has awarded grants to local artists, organizations, and businesses to encourage and support a diverse range of events and activities. This celebratory month aligns with the City’s Public Art Strategic Plan and Annual Work Plan. In fiscal year 2024/2025, the Public Art Commission invested $50,000 in grants to 9 recipients: ArtHatch, ESCO Alley Art, CoLabCrafts, Escondido Choral Arts and California Center for the Arts Escondido, Glass House Arts, Escondido Arts Partnership, Stone & Glass, and Daydream Here. The success of the new event brought tourism and attention to Escondido. The City of Escondido was awarded the North County Art Award for Best New Event or Festival 2025.

Throughout April, Escondido showcases its rich creative scene with engaging events, performances, exhibitions, and hands-on activities. Local artists, cultural organizations, and community members will come together to highlight the impact of the arts on economic development, education, and quality of life. From gallery openings and live music to theater productions and interactive workshops, there will be opportunities for all ages to participate. Arts, Culture & Creativity Month also serves as a platform to advocate for public support of the arts and celebrate Escondido’s diverse artistic talent.
