Gone Girl

by Gillian Flynn

Gone girl : a novel

Gone Girl is a young adult novel that takes place in current times. It details the aftermath of Amy Dunne’s disappearance and her husband Nick looking like the obvious suspect. The book flips through the two perspectives of Amy’s diary entry before she went missing and Nick in the present. Gone Girl is constantly interesting with its big twists and themes of mystery, suspense and revenge.

I adored this book. Flynn was able to capture how some women may feel in society and what would happen if they decided to exact their revenge. She was easily able to bring the emotions and feelings of the characters off the page with their realistic motives and flaws. I enjoyed how Gone Girl’s changing perspectives made you question what really is the truth and if people are really who they present themselves as.

I would recommend this book for a mature audience. The book has dark themes and strong language. Despite this, the book makes the reader question what really is the truth in a fun and entertaining way.
